RAJANI PARULEKAR (b. 1945), recipient of Maharashtra State Award, is a poet in Marathi with three collections of poems to her credit. The present poem, taken from Indian Literature, has been translated by Suhas Sooryakant Limaye.
रजनी पारूलेकर (जन्म 1945), महाराष्ट्र के राज्य पुरस्कार प्राप्त करनेवाली, मराठी । की एक कवयित्री हैं जिन्होंने तीन कविताएँ लिखी हैं। प्रस्तुत कविता भारतीय भाषा से ली गई है, जो सुहास सूर्यकांत लिमये द्वारा अनुवाद की गई है।
Sound poem in Hindi class 9th
SOUND
A tree in the woods is hacked
Its branch breaking away
what do the halves
whisper to each other?
Do they moan and groen
In the heart of their hearts?
And do these logs driven from each other
Reminisce?
Do they remember how the wind tossed them?
How they got drenched in the rain?
And the blossoms in the spring
And the fall in autumn?
Oh! But the wind knows.
The wind blowing with a din
In places forlorn
Sings such songs
Those songs not all could praise
Many a man is blunt,
He doesn’t even sense
The agonies caught
Even in simple words!
What then of these songs
They are just sounds
Such sounds as would be choked to death
If confined in the strokes and coils of script.

छोटे से वन में वृक्ष को काट दिया गया और उसकी टहनिय तोड़ दिया गया। उनके आधे भाग आपस में क्या कानाफूसी करते हैं। ।
क्या वे अपनी आत्मा से दर्द में कराहते और चिल्लाते हैं ?
और क्या ये टुकड़े (लठ्ठ) एक-दूसरे से संगठित होकर अपने अनुभवों के लिए में सोचते हैं?
क्या वे याद करते हैं कि हवा ने उन्हें कैसे स्पंदित किया ?
वर्षा में वे कैसे भीगकर तर हुए?
और वसंत में खिलना और पतझड़ में गिरना?
ओह ! परन्तु हवा को मालूम है (या वह जानती है कि)।
हवा निराशा में ऐसे ही गीत गाती हुई धुंधली होकर बहती है।
सभी गानों के तारीफ नहीं किए जा सकते,
बहुतों में कोई मुँह फट होता है,
उसे साधारण शब्दों में किसी के अति कष्ट का आभास नहीं होता है। तब ये गाने क्या हैं ? मात्र ध्वनियाँ हैं।
ऐसी ध्वनियाँ मानो दम घुटकर मौत हो गई हो, जैसे उसे तंग स्थान में चोट पहुँचाई गई हो और हस्तलिपि को लपेटकर समेट लिया गया हो।
