10. India Through a Traveller’s Eyes (एक यात्री के नजरों में भारत)
‘India Through a Traveller’s Eyes’ is an extract from My Several Worlds by Pearl S. Buck. It shows her love for the poorest people living in Indian villages.
एक यात्री के नजरों में भारत एक उध्दरण है जिसे पर्ल एस. बक की पुस्तक माई सेवेरल वर्ल्ड से लिया गया है। यह भारतीय गाँवों में रहने वाले गरीब लोगों के प्रति उनके प्यार को दर्शाया है।
When she came to India she met both the young intellectuals in the cities and the peasants in the villages. The social and political life in India was in a ferment.
जब वह भारत आयी, तो उसने शहरों में रहने वाले यूवा बुध्दिजीवीयों और गाँवों में रहनेवाले गरीब किसानों से मिली। भारत में सामाजिक और राजनितिक जीवन उत्तेजित अवस्था में था।
The freedom movement was on. The British rulers were preparing to go to the Second World War. Indians did not want to help the British in the war.
स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन चल रहा था। ब्रिटीश शासक द्वितीय विश्व युध्द में जाने की तैयारी कर रहे थे। भारतीय अंग्रेजों की मदद नहीं करना चाहते थे।
The uniqueness of the freedom movement under the leadership of Gandhi was in its faith in non-violence.
महात्मा गाँधी के नेतृत्व में स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन का अनोखापन अहिंसा के मार्ग पर जारी था।
When Pearl S. Buck visited in India, he experiences were very sad. She found that the Indian peasant was far poorer than the Chinese.
जब पर्ल एस. बक भारत भ्रमण करने आयी, तो वह बहुत उदास हो गई। उसने पाया कि भारतीय किसान चीनी किसानों से भी ज्यादा गरीब है।
She went to village home in India and met the people in the family. She found that the people were basically cultured and deeply religious.
वह भारत के ग्रामीण घरों में भी गयी तथा परिवार के लोगों से भी मिली। उसने पाया कि लोग मूल रूप से सांस्कृतिक और धार्मिक थे।
